The Rusty Nail Winery opens in downtown Sulphur’s historic district with 400+ visitors during Grand Opening

Sulphur, Oklahoma – October 8, 2010  -- The Rusty Nail Winery, a boutique winery and tasting room in Arbuckle Country, opened its doors to the public on Saturday, September 25, 2010.  Over 400 guests attended the special Grand Opening festivities which include wine tastings, live music from The Cami Stinson Trio, and a ribbon cutting ceremony conducted by the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce and Sulphur Main Street.

The Rusty Nail produces all of their privately labeled wine on premises.  Each wine has a uniquely designed label named after a shoe which features a rusty nail as the heel.  Thanks to Production Manager, Debbie Alexander, the winery offers a wide selection of unique wines from sweet, such as Peep Toe Chardonnay, Dorothy’s Ruby Red Chianti, and Boogie Shoes Pinot Noir to semi-sweet and dry wines like Cinderella’s Slipper White Zinfandel and Little Black Pump Cabernet Sauvignon.  Marketing Manager, Melissa Alexander says, “Even if you’re not a ‘wine drinker’ we encourage you to come out and try our crisp and refreshing wines. I think we have something to please everyone’s palate.”

The Rusty Nail is located in an exquisitely restored building which was originally a hardware store when it was constructed in 1906, hence the name “The Rusty Nail”.  It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a venue for reunions, receptions and private events.

General Manager, Leah Lucio, is pleased to bring some excitement back to the downtown area.  “We invite local artists to play music at the winery and hope that we can help showcase their talents.  We also have some great ideas for watch parties during the OU games and will be hosting wine tasting and wine/cheese pairing classes to further educate the public about the diversity and benefits of wine.”  Also look for The Rusty Nail to host a Halloween Party, “Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun”, on October 30, 2010.

The Rusty Nail is located at 218 W. Muskogee Avenue, at the corner of W. Third Street, in Sulphur, Oklahoma.  In addition to a tasting room with wine and draft beer, The Rusty Nail also has a boutique gift shop and the Rusty Nail Bistro which offers homemade sandwiches, salads, and daily soups.  The winery is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4-8PM, Saturday from 10AM to 8PM, and Sunday from 12-5PM.
